The Roast of HP
I hope you’ve enjoyed our recent emails and blog posts about some of the amazing women who have inspired, or make happen, what you see and love about our brand. There are many other women who have supported CALLIDAE and we plan to continue highlighting the incredible community of #WomenSupportingWomen, which is more important now than ever. More about that later.
I resisted being one of the subjects of our review of CALLIDAE women, for reasons not germane at the moment. The team disagreed and I relented, but only on the condition that they write the blog post. Theoretically dangerous, but I’ve always enjoyed a good laugh at my sometimes quirky behavior and eccentricities. (I was always one of the partners imitated in the law firm holiday party skit . . . . ) I imposed absolutely no restrictions on what they could write — the only request was that it be well written. While I have read the roast, I did not edit one word. Enjoy an unfiltered look at the real HP . . . .

So, here’s to our fabulous and fearless leader, HP!
Unfiltered yet charming, down-to-earth yet confident, and passionate yet laid-back, you rarely see such a brilliant combination of contradictions. Not to put too fine a point on it, but finding someone who’s equally passionate about horse riding as she is textiles and embroidery is like finding a needle in a haystack!
With her daring attitude, she’s always ready to get back on the horse– even if that means breaking her collarbone. Harriet, being the pathologically ambitious person that she is, retired from law and promptly decided to follow her true passion and create something the equestrian world was lacking - no, not humility or modesty - a clothing brand! We realize most people don’t retire only to start a brand new business, but that’s Harriet for you.

It’s no secret that luxury equestrian brands maintain a polished aesthetic, and CALLIDAE is no different, but Harriet is determined to never sacrifice a little cheeky playfulness along the way. Whether she sends a model careening on a carousel horse or leaping over a ledge, HP has the ability to stretch her imagination as if it were the elastic in a pair of CALLIDAE leggings. The charm and quirky bits we love most about her are undoubtedly woven into the DNA of the brand.
For most of us, our interactions with Harriet primarily live in online meetings, but that doesn’t stop her personality from shining. Driven by a potent cocktail of equal parts Diet Coke and coffee, she’s always ready to power through our agenda and maybe run out of the room a couple of times for a stop-and-drop show and tell of new products in the works. We might have a brief intermission due to her weekly vanishing act during calls (thanks, spotty wifi). And, of course, a few f-bombs are thrown out from time to time. In fact, Harriet’s sailor-like fondness for the f-word would make you think that CALLIDAE was a nautical clothing brand.
