At Home with Erin Stewart: Equestrian & Interior Designer
We caught up recently with longtime Team CALLIDAE member, Erin Stewart. Erin had a stellar junior riding career capped off by winning the 2002 Maclay Medal. After an equally impressive amateur career -- named Grand Champion and Leading Hunter Rider at 2009 Capital Challenge -- Erin turned pro. She then became one of the elite level trainers in the United States, coaching countless students to championships at all the major hunter and Big Eq competitions.
While it is hard to imagine stepping aside from one of the top training barns in the country, for health reasons, Erin did exactly that. She has always had a strong pull to the world of art and design, and Erin has turned her tireless work ethic and impeccable taste to the world of art and design. Since leaving the professional horse world, Erin has devoted her time to establishing her very successful interior designer business, Studio Cyra, with projects and clients both in equestrian hubs like Wellington, Palm Beach, and Michigan, and all over the United States. Her design style is a blend of mid-century modern mixed with wabi sabi warmth.
Erin still loves horses and keeps her hand in the equestrian world through the championship ponies and horses she still owns and leases out. And she avails herself of the opportunity to ride whenever she needs the zen only the partnership with a horse can provide. For those times, Erin turns to her favorite CALLIDAE pieces because they're as perfect for design meetings as they are for riding. From both Erin's perspective and ours, once you're part of the CALLIDAE family, you're part of it forever.
